Just a 5 minute drive from The Cheyenne, Holliday Lake State Park is within the State Forest and is a paradise for the outdoor enthusiast.  Fishing in the 150-acre lake; swimming the park's life-guarded beach where the "Critter Hole" play area is a favorite of young visitors; trails for hikers, bikers and equestrians; a large shaded picnic area, two picnic shelters, two playgrounds, a boat ramp; seasonal full-service concession stand and campstore; and canoe, rowboat and paddle boat rentals.

Come out and enjoy barrel racing at it's best in the new Clayton C. Bryant Arena, home of the great "Hot Shot Rey". Residents and visitors alike are invited to participate, or just sit back and enjoy the shows. The Arena is located on Rt 26, just north of the Town of Appomattox. Appomattox Court House and National Historical Park
The park  recreates the atmosphere for one of the most dramatic events of the war: Lee's surrender of his famous Army of Northern Virginia to Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865. Visit the McLean House where the surrender was negotiated and stroll through the restored and recreated village where the war in Virginia was ended.

Clover Hill Village is a six acre village where the history and heritage of Appomattox County comes to life. Enjoy a glimpse into daily life in the past (1840-1920) as you browse through the many historic buildings, including a log cabin, chapel, one room schoolhouse, working blacksmith shop, general store, and post office. Self-guided tours through the grounds daily from 9:00 a.m. to dusk. Brochures available at entrance. Guided building tours available Thursday through Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and by appointment at other hours. Tour length 1 to 2 hours.
